The Festival

Here’s what you need to know about the best weekend of the year.

Please note: Due to health and safety measures, we’re taking the year off from our workshops and gallery pop-ups. Stay tuned for more info regarding workshops in 2022. Thank you for your understanding!

COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Entry Requirements:
Proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is required for entry to FreshGrass | North Adams for all those over two years of age. Please have your ID and one of the below items on hand during entry to comply with COVID-19 entry requirements:

  • Vaccination card
  • Picture of vaccination card
  • Proof of negative test obtained no more than 72 hours prior to entry. (Must have your name on it)

Masks are required for everyone over two years of age while indoors, during the entrance procedures to the festival, and on shuttles. We encourage masks at all times throughout the festival.

Check-in

Check-in is located in Courtyard A, MASS MoCA’s main courtyard. Masks are required for everyone over two years of age during the entrance procedures to the festival.

First, please be ready to show your vaccination card, a picture of your vaccination card, or proof of a negative test, along with your photo ID. Once your COVID-19 screening is complete, please show your e-tickets to receive your FreshGrass wristband(s).

To those over the age of 21: keep your photo ID out to receive a 21+ wristband needed to purchase drinks.

Once these check-in steps are complete and you have your festival wristband, feel free to utilize the Re-Entry Gate for the remainder of the festival.

Ticket winners, FreshPass ticket-holders, press, and festival guests: please join the line labeled VIP/Press/FreshPass located at the right side of the tent. 

Parking, Shuttles, Maps, Camping

Shuttle Schedule
Friday: 5pm – 1am
Saturday: 10am – 1am
Sunday: 10am – 7pm

FreshGround Registration
Friday: Noon – 1am
Saturday: 9am – 1am
Monday: Check out by noon

Shuttle picks up every 20-30 mins directly in front of the main parking lot on Marshall St. (at traffic light) and makes a loop to all stops.

Policies

  • For your safety, all festival-goers are subject to a comprehensive security search.
  • Personal chairs are allowed in Joe’s Field only, not in the courtyards. Please do not leave chairs on the field overnight.
  • Masking is required in all indoor spaces—regardless of vaccination status.
  • No bags over 8″ x 11″ x 4″ are allowed in the museum galleries.
  • There will be ADA viewing areas located next to the front-of-house sound tent. Please inquire at the box office.
  • Please do not bring these items: weapons, alcohol, drugs, smoking and vaping gear, flammable material, glass containers, unsealed liquid containers, tents (pop-up or shade), coolers, pets, laser pointers, dinosaurs, glow sticks, totems, and full water bottles. (Note: Empty water bottles are allowed and can be filled for free on-site).
  • We prohibit flash photography, cameras with detachable lenses, tripods, selfie sticks, and drones.

MASS MoCA Courtesy Code

By purchasing a ticket to join MASS MoCA’s visitors, staff, and artists on the museum campus, you agree to follow a Courtesy Code, detailed below.

  • Masks are required for all indoor spaces, except while eating and drinking, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Social distancing is encouraged when possible—our vast galleries and courtyards allow plenty of space to wander.
  • Large bags (over 8″ x 11″ x 4″) will not be permitted in the galleries.
  • All ticket-buyers are required to provide contact information and names of everyone in your party.
  • In order to keep our staff and patrons safe, we reserve the right to ask you to leave if you become ill during your visit.
