The Whippoorwill Arts/FreshGrass Foundation Award was founded this year to celebrate one emerging artist and one master musician in bluegrass and roots music, with an unrestricted $25,000 grant and a slot on the FreshGrass main stage.  The first annual award was taken home by Molly Tuttle, the tremendous young flat-picker who has appeared at FreshGrass in many guises, and the legendary multi-instrumentalist Keith Little, who since the 1970s has been a key member of bands including Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder and the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band. They join forces for a special duo set of originals and traditionals.
