Alynda Lee Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff puts it best: “you don’t see a Puerto Rican girl play the banjo in a honky-tonk very often! You don’t see a transgendered drummer/fiddle player very often! It’s awesome.” Hailing from New Orleans but raised on punk rock in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Segarra has assembled an omnivorous music collective that is equal parts jangly blues and goth-tinged Americana, culminating in a Joe’s Field-sized ruckus.
