“Imagine yourself on a grassy bank, or in a camp chair, settling in on a steamy summer day, with a group of friends playing bluegrass music.” This is how Country Standard Time describes Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen’s sophomore album, released this month to widespread acclaim. And it is indeed a group of friends – for the record, Solivan enlisted many of his closest heroes, including FreshGrass alums Del McCoury, Jerry Douglas, and Sam Bush. It’s a blend of newgrass and good old picking, chops that earned this rising star a Grammy nomination for his debut album in 2015.
