Hancock Shaker Village – Climbing the Holy Hill
Climbing the Holy Hill: 9/23/21 @ 4pm
Opening September 23 at Hancock Shaker Village—a 750-acre living-history museum in Hancock, MA—Climbing the Holy Hill weaves together the work of Our Native Daughters, Brad Wells, Roomful of Teeth, and Allison Smith into a radiant, immersive exhibition experienced while ascending Shaker Mountain. Melody, vocals, and visual elements inspired by the Shakers, the trail, and the past year of contemplation evoke the sect’s annual song-filled pilgrimages to the peak and transform a moderate Berkshire hike back into the sacred site it once was.
In a prelude to FreshGrass, join in a group hike to the summit marking the opening of the exhibition on September 23 at 4pm. The afternoon will include a brief performance on the summit, and singing by all. Depart from Hancock Shaker Village, allow 1 ½ hours.
