Banjo Johnny asked all the FreshGrass award semi-finalists the same five questions, so you can get to know them a little better as their reponses are released over the course of the next few weeks.

~ VICKIE VAUGHN BAND~

What is The Vickie Vaughn Band's tour vehicle of choice?

We wish we had a cool answer like a General Lee inspired Sprinter, but the sad reality is a GMC Envoy and Honda Civic.

Where do you guys practice?

We split our time between Vickie's garage and Zach & Maggie's (the Newlyweds) apartment. Vickie's garage used to be a studio, but now is covered in hatch show prints and spiders. Since Zach is the best chef in the band, we now practice at his & Maggie's apartment for free food. #Zaggie2013

Where do you guys practice?

Why choose between the city and the country? Have both! We'll practice in the Easton, CT countryside on the 4 acres Dan grew up on, in his barn concert venue filled with family playbills, chairs on the ceiling, and adventurous hats as far as the eye can see. When we're in the city, we'll take over the Bilger family's living room in Brooklyn's Park Slope. We'll let you guess which spot has chickens.

How about Jason's hometown, Romulus, NY: Population 2,000. Cows, that is. If you haven't yet discovered, bovine make a great audience.

Have you been to a show in the last six months that has blown your mind? Who was it and where?

Rushad Eggleston has always blown our minds, but most recently we discovered the true depth of his powers when we witnessed 50+ octogenarians in Easton singing "I peed on a bird." In a church. It was truly magical.

Moonshine slushies? We didn't believe you, but according to Google, moonshine slushies are kind of a thing. For a Cricket slushie, combine diluted lemon juice, ginger, ice, and moonshine. Garnish with a fresh mint leaf. Yum! Ask band chef Doug Goldstein to whip one up for ya.
