FreshGrass lineup announcement around the corner

Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art will announce the lineup for its annual music festival FreshGrass on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. FreshGrass will take place September 19-21 and in North Adams, Mass. and will features mandolin mavericks and fevered fiddlers, traditionalists and trailblazers – well-known, much-loved artists, along with new FreshGrass discoveries, solidly establishing itself at the forefront of the festival scene.

Last year’s music lineup included names such as The Devil Makes Three, Sam Bush, The Del McCoury Band and The Wood Brothers among many others.

The festival consists of three days of concerts, pop-up performances in the museum’s indoor and outdoor venues, instrument and industry workshops, and a bounty of Berkshire fresh food and spirits are planned for the weekend-long festival at the edge of harvest and foliage seasons.

The FreshGrass Award expands, with 2013 champs Cricket Tell the Weather performing onstage and the festival’s legendary and epic jam sessions – where professional musicians pick and play among the crowd. In addition to the contest, workshops, camping, and a virtuosic wonderland of bluegrass and roots music, festival events include luthier demonstrations children’s programming, and downtown camping. Admission to MASS MoCA’s galleries – where festival goers will find concerts set amidst dramatically scaled exhibitions of contemporary art and is included with festival admission.

Museum members receive a 10% discount on the regular prices. Membership discounts do not apply to the early-worm and early-bird discounted ticket prices.
