Two brothers decide to form a band, adapting the blues, folk and other roots‐music sounds they loved as kids into their own evocative sound and twining their voices in the sort of high‐lonesome harmony blend for which sibling singers are often renowned. While that’s not a terribly unusual story, Chris and Oliver Wood took a twisty path to their ultimate collaboration. Indeed, they pursued separate projects for some 15 years before joining forces. Well established now in those other projects, their brotherly endeavor has become more and more a focus in recent years, winning them a widening circle of fans and admirers in the music world. Chris has been to the museum with Medeski Martin and Wood on numerous occasions, and we’re thrilled to have him back and to present the Wood Brothers in their MASS MoCA and FreshGrass debut–in the Hunter Center for the latenight show on Saturday with Noam Pikelny & Friends.
