For fifty years, Del McCoury’s music has defined authenticity in the bluegrass idiom. “Del epitomizes the bluegrass musician from a previous era, and also from this one,” says acclaimed resonator guitarist and 2013 FreshGrass performer Jerry Douglas. “You can finally make a living playing bluegrass, and a large part of it is because of Del McCoury.” Del’s band is a family affair, featuring his sons, Rob and Ronnie, on banjo and mandolin respectively, and you can hear the bloodline in their intuitive playing and perfect harmonies. Joined by the legendary jam grasser and Grateful Dead affiliate David Grisman.
