At the age of 21, Sarah Jarosz is finishing her Bachelor’s at New England Conservatory and already one of the giants of contemporary bluegrass world. Called “Gillian Welch’s long lost daughter” by Rolling Stone, Jarosz spins the tales of an older soul with unwavering artfulness. With her first two albums, she has as many Grammy nominations – all eyes are on her next project and the inevitable surprises and delights it will bring. She returns to MASS MoCA for her second FreshGrass appearance to kick off this year’s festival with a set right before the great Ralph Stanley, a musical pairing that sums up the festival more articulately than anything we could say to describe it.
