Ladies Auxiliary Ukulele Orchestra

story

Doing big things with little instruments, The Ladies Auxiliary Ukulele Orchestra is a collaborative of women interested in exploring and performing music on the ukulele.  Current active band members are songwriter and educator Bernice Lewis and retired educator Berni McMahon, with special guest Mariah Lewis. This isn’t your grandma’s ukulele ensemble: no grass skirts, no coconut bras. Carefully arranged ukuleles come together to create a whole lotta’ sound. The Ladies Auxiliary Ukulele Orchestra performs originals, re-invents standards, and creates singular versions of contemporary tunes. Their set list features songs from Mozart to Led Zeppelin, from The Andrews Sisters to Radiohead.
